Required Concussion Training for Coaches and Officials

Michigan sports concussion law requires all coaches, employees, volunteers, and other adults involved with a youth athletic activity to complete a concussion awareness on-line training program, then email a completion certificate to the Recreation Department.

You only ever have to complete this brief online course once, before you may work with youth athletes.

1
Take the Training Course
~45 minutes

Take the appropriate online training course. This takes about 45 minutes, maybe a little bit more if you include the time it takes to create an online account on the concussion training website.

Send in Your Certificate
~5 minutes

Print your certificate of completion from the on-line training course and deliver it to the Walker Recreation Department in the Ice and Fitness Center. You can do this in person, by mail or download the PDF of your certificate and deliver it by email.

Note: Once the Walker Recreation Department has your certificate on file, you will not have to repeat this process when working in future seasons. You will only ever need to do this once.

Concussion awareness certification is required of all adults working with child athletes.
