Game 4 Weather Update
Tornadoes on May 7
On May 7, severe weather moved through parts of our state, destroying property as close to us as a single interstate south of us. Local news reports that there were “no reports of fatalities or serious injuries.” I am thankful that everyone is okay, and my heart goes out to those who have lost their homes and belongings.
This serves as a terrifying reminder as to why the Walker Recreation Department requires that coaches check the weather with local authorities and cancel practices on their own whenever there is visible lightning, a severe thunderstorm warning, or any tornado advisory (either a watch or a warning). Safety is the priority.
Looking ahead: Saturday, May 11
As it stands (5/8/2024), rain is forecast from 2am-8am on Saturday so it should be all cleared up by the time we have games to play. It will, however, be much colder than you might expect so please dress accordingly for the weather!
